The tree is small to medium-sized with an open, spreading canopy and moderately thorny branches. Young shoots, buds, and flowers have a purple tint; the interior of the flowers is white. The fruits are large, oblong, with characteristic square shoulders and a thick, knobby, lemon-yellow rind. The flesh is cream-colored, firm, low-juiciness, and contains seeds.
The fruit ripening period falls in the winter months, primarily December. The variety is considered a local Italian cultivar, and the designation V.C.R. indicates that the planting material has undergone sanitary certification and is a verified clone. The plant is susceptible to the fungal disease Mal Secco.
