The variety was obtained during breeding work through the selection of local germplasm samples collected from farmers in the Alentejo region. Its creation became part of a program for the preservation of traditional biological heritage and the adaptation of the crop to local growing conditions.

As part of the breeding efforts, research was conducted on the agronomic potential of the variety with the goal of developing earlier-maturing forms. Scientific data on the variety is primarily focused on the study of the chemical composition of essential oils, ethnobotanical aspects, and general principles for the conservation of local coriander varieties.
