Variety description

10 August 2026

The tree reaches a height of 20–25 meters with a trunk diameter of up to 1.5 meters. Young specimens have a narrow conical crown, which becomes wider and rounded with age. The leaves are rounded, pubescent, with serrated margins.

The fruits are small, 1–2 cm in size, covered with a thick and hard shell, and gathered in dense clusters of 3–8 pieces. Due to the small size of the kernel and difficulties with shelling, they are less valuable for commercial use than the fruits of common hazel.

The species is distinguished by high resistance to drought, frost, and urban conditions. As a rootstock, it forms a vigorous root system, increases the drought tolerance of grafted varieties, and does not produce root suckers.
