The Gold King variety (code GOK) belongs to winter melons. The fruit growth period is about 32 days. The plant has a compact growth habit and is capable of bearing fruit on both the main stem and lateral vines.
The fruits have yellow skin and a sugar content of about 14%. One of the characteristics is the strong attachment of the fruits to the peduncle, due to which they do not shatter. Fruit size can vary, reaching 7–8 inches in a number of studies.
