Sunshine 628 melon belongs to the muskmelon (cantaloupe) type with a long shelf life. The fruits are medium-sized and round with a netted surface and lack distinct ribs. The orange flesh is characterized by high density and a specific texture; the fruits are suitable for transportation and can be stored for up to 20–25 days.
The plant possesses high vigor and yield potential. The variety shows resistance to powdery mildew (races 1, 2, 5), Fusarium wilt (races 0, 1, 2), and melon aphid. The hybrid is intended for commercial cultivation and is aimed at the fresh produce market, including exports.
