The Kazako rootstock is not a pumpkin variety for fruit production. Its primary function is to serve as a root system for grafted crops, which requires synchronization of the sowing dates of the rootstock and scion to ensure their physiological compatibility regarding stem diameter.

The use of this rootstock contributes to the protection of plants from soil-borne diseases. Research notes its effect on the characteristics of grafted watermelons: an increase in flesh firmness and a reduction in the likelihood of hollow heart, although a delay in maturity dates is possible.
