Shintoza is an interspecific hybrid used in industrial vegetable production as a specialized rootstock for grafting cucurbits and cucumbers. The plant is not intended for producing fruit suitable for human consumption and does not possess the characteristics of table varieties.
The hybrid has high growth vigor and a well-developed root system, which ensures compatibility with various scions. The use of this rootstock increases the resistance of grafted plants to soil-borne pathogens, such as Fusarium and nematodes, and improves the tolerance of crops to soil salinity and moisture deficit.
The variety is listed in the national registry — its seeds are authorized for sale in this country.
