The variety «Regenta DS» was created by obtaining regenerants from cell cultures of productive clones selected from the varieties «Norwestern» and «Holstenkamp». Plants reach a height of 70–90 cm, are distinguished by intensive tillering, dense foliage, and low lodging susceptibility of the stems.
The variety is characterized as mid-late: heading begins at the end of May — early June, seed ripening occurs in the first ten days of July. It possesses a high ability for regrowth in spring and after mowing, is tolerant to leaf diseases, while being demanding of agrotechnics.
High-yielding variety with a dry matter yield potential of about 10.8 t/ha. Intended for hay production and pasture use, it is also considered a biomass source for biofuel production.
