The variety is late-maturing, with a vegetation period ranging from 115–120 to 140–160 days. The root crops have a conical shape and reach a length of 20–30 cm. The color of the flesh and core is intense orange, with a possible reddish tint.

The plant has good keeping quality and is resistant to cracking and exposure to low temperatures. The variety is considered universal and is suitable for fresh consumption, canning, freezing, and processing into juice.

The name De Flakkee historically denotes a regional type of carrot. Various breeding lines may be distributed under this name, which leads to variability in ripening times.
