Dianthus plumarius is a perennial herbaceous plant forming a dense cushion of glaucous shoots 20–50 cm high. The flowers are double, 3–5 cm in diameter, in shades of pink with a spicy fragrance. The plant is frost-resistant, drought-tolerant, and blooms in June for a month.
Professional series, such as Amazon F1 and Sweet, are interspecific hybrids. Dianthus Amazon Rose Magic is distinguished by its ability to change color from white to pink and dark pink, reaching a height of 60–90 cm. The Sweet series is intended for year-round cut flower production without the need for vernalization.
