Variety description

The plant forms a dense bush and possesses heart-shaped foliage, which is dark green, often with a bronze or reddish tinge on the edges when emerging and in autumn. The variety is evergreen or semi-evergreen.
The flowers are large, nodding, and combine purple petals with yellow spurs. Flowering occurs in mid- to late spring. The plant prefers shady or semi-shady locations with moist, organic-rich, and well-drained soil.
The variety is used in landscape design for mass plantings, as a ground cover, and for borders, rock gardens, and plantings in shady woodland gardens. Once established, it exhibits moderate drought tolerance and resistance to deer browsing.
