The plant is an evergreen tree or shrub. Young leaves are rounded, silver-blue in color, and have a menthol aroma; with age, the foliage becomes lanceolate and takes on a blue-green hue. The bark is ornamental, exfoliating, and colored in cream, pink, and pale brown tones.

The variety possesses higher winter hardiness than the original species and is capable of withstanding temperature drops down to –15 °C. The plant tolerates hard pruning well, which is recommended to be carried out in late winter to maintain a compact shape and stimulate the growth of young shoots.

Applications include specimen planting, hedges, and container cultivation. When grown freely, the tree height can reach 7–12 meters. Among possible problems, silver leaf disease and leaf edema are mentioned.
