The variety belongs to the group of modern interspecific poinsettia hybrids (EIH). During the breeding process for such plants, the main objective was to expand genetic diversity and improve crop characteristics, in particular the study of response to high night temperatures and resistance to delayed bract coloration.

Pink Freedom is characterized by pink bract coloration. Unlike white forms of this group, the presence of anthocyanins was identified in the bracts of pink hybrids. The epidermal cells of this hybrid's bracts are more elongated compared to classic poinsettia varieties.
