The JAN 06 variety belongs to the Fargesia murielae species, known in horticulture as umbrella bamboo due to the characteristic bending of the stems under the weight of the foliage. The variety was bred at the German nursery Baumschule Wilfried Janßen and has been officially registered.
The plant is used in landscape design as a decorative crop.
