The Bundy variety is used in agronomic research as a reference or collection specimen. In experiments evaluating the seed productivity of perennial grasses, the variety demonstrated high performance indicators, which contributed to its inclusion in hybridization programs.

The plant is used as a forage crop for creating grass mixtures or pure stands in hayfields and pastures. Scientific data point to the study of varietal characteristics in the context of resistance to pests, in particular the frit fly, and pathogens.
