The Silva variety is a perennial loose-bunch grass. By type of development, it belongs to intensive varieties intended for use in hayfields and pastures.

Under Latvian conditions, the variety demonstrates high dry matter productivity. The plant possesses a pronounced ability for intensive regrowth of aftermath after mowing.
