The variety belongs to the subspecies Festuca rubra ssp. trichophylla. Due to the presence of short rhizomes, the stand is capable of recovering from damage, while the variety forms a dense turf with very fine leaves.
The plant is distinguished by high ornamental quality, the ability to withstand low mowing, and resistance to diseases. High salt tolerance makes the variety suitable for landscaping parks and road verges.
Amarone is used as a component of lawn mixtures for creating parterre lawns, ornamental lawns, and sports fields that require high stand density.
