The Ambassador variety belongs to the subspecies Festuca rubra subsp. commutata, known as Chewings fescue. The plant forms a dense bunch-type turf without the formation of pronounced underground shoots.
The variety is distinguished by high shade tolerance and the ability to grow in both shaded and sunny areas. A developed root system provides drought tolerance, and the genetic characteristics of the variety provide resistance to a number of lawn diseases.
Due to the slow growth rate, the variety requires less frequent mowing than other types of lawn grasses. It is used for creating dense, fine-textured cover and is often used in grass mixtures for landscaping.
