The Gwendolyn variety is an octoploid with the presence of rhizomes. In the year of sowing, the autumn habit is semi-prostrate/intermediate, the leaf sheath is characterized by strong anthocyanin coloration. Leaves are dark green, the flag leaf is long and wide.
Plants reach a height of 120–130 cm. The variety shows resistance to fungal diseases and lodging. The yield of green mass is about 220 c/ha, dry matter — 66 c/ha. The crop tolerates growing in sunny and shaded areas, but reacts negatively to stagnant water.
