The variety belongs to the subspecies Festuca rubra litoralis or Festuca rubra trichophylla. Plants of this type are characterized by the presence of fine leaves and the ability to form a dense sod, and also demonstrate good tolerance to regular mowing.

Yahuna is used primarily in turf grass mixtures. The variety is included in professional turf seed manuals, where shoot density, visual appeal, and disease resistance are evaluated.
