The variety «Albaro» belongs to the vegetable bulb fennel (Foeniculum vulgare ssp. vulgare var. azoricum), which is grown to obtain a dense stem base used for food.

In technical manuals for variety testing, the variety was characterized by average plant height at the stage of commercial maturity and average foliage density. Currently, the variety has been excluded from official catalogs approved for commercial distribution.
