Variety description

The plant forms a tall, upright flower stalk 70 to 100 cm in height with a pyramidal inflorescence. The flowers are bell-shaped, nodding, and gathered in a raceme; their length is 1–1.5 cm and diameter is 2–2.5 cm. The flower color is deep, dark purple, sometimes brownish-purple or amethyst with darker edges. Leaves are lanceolate, glaucous-green or light blue-green in shade.

The variety blooms in late spring and is a perennial plant. It requires a sunny or slightly shaded location, as well as well-drained fertile soil, since moisture stagnation can lead to bulb rot. Due to the height of the flower stalk, it is recommended to plant it in areas protected from strong winds.

The purpose of the variety is for use in single or group garden plantings and landscape design for creating vertical accents. Due to its specific odor and taste, the plant is often not damaged by deer and other animals.
