The variety is an ornamental woody plant characterized by an umbrella-shaped witch's broom type crown. The name "Katlan" translated from Hungarian means "umbrella" or "depression".
The tree is presumably a male specimen, as fruiting has not been observed on these plants. The variety is intended for landscaping gardens, parks, and urban spaces.
