The flowers are colored in a rich purple-crimson hue with a velvety sheen; the petal edges are slightly ruffled. The plant forms a dense spike-shaped inflorescence and reaches a height of 80 to 120 cm.
Flowering occurs in the period from July to September, 80–100 days after planting. The variety is suitable for cutting due to its sturdy stems and is also used in landscape design.
The plant requires sunny locations protected from the wind. The bulbs are not winter-hardy and require annual digging for winter storage.
