Gladiolus 'Orleans' belongs to the group of large-flowered varieties. The plant forms sword-shaped leaves and large spike-like inflorescences consisting of 15–20 buds. Individual flowers reach a size of 10–15 cm in diameter and have a soft lilac or pinkish-lavender color.
The plant stems reach a height of 90–125 cm. Flowering of the variety occurs in the period from June to September. The plant is photophilous, preferring well-lit areas or partial shade. In regions with a cold climate, bulbs do not overwinter in the ground and require annual lifting and storage in a cool dark place.
The variety is used for creating borders, container plantings, and for cutting. It is important not to confuse this variety with the historical variety 'Maid of Orleans'.
