Variety description

The leaves of the variety are heavily ruffled, with a glossy sheen and a rich purple-black color without silver frosting, while the underside has a ruby tint. The plant forms a dense, broad rosette 25–35 cm high and 50–60 cm wide; flower stalks reach 45–50 cm during the flowering period.
Flowering occurs in mid-summer when white flowers bloom from pink buds on upright, branched flower stalks. The variety is evergreen, noted for salt tolerance and vigorous growth, and is considered low-maintenance.
The plant prefers partial shade but is capable of tolerating full shade, and requires organic-rich, moist, well-drained soils. It is used in landscape design for creating borders, mass plantings, container gardening, and as an accent plant.
