The Andrei variety shrub is tall, wide, with a dense crown. Young shoots are distinguished by a reddish-brown hue, while the branches have a very small number of thorns or are entirely devoid of them. The leaves are small in size, with a characteristic sheen on the upper side.

The variety is early-ripening, maturing 3–4 weeks earlier than local varieties of the Romanian flora. The berries have a pitcher-like shape. The variety was obtained through the breeding and selection of wild sea buckthorn populations in Romania and is characterized by high productivity.
