The variety is winter, two-row, and hulled. The genetic basis of the plant was obtained by crossing (IABO x Arda3) x Amillis.

A high content of β-glucan has been recorded in the grain of this variety. The variety shows a good ability for plant regeneration from immature embryos in tissue culture.

The variety is used in commercial production and scientific research related to the study of barley physiology, in particular responses to frost and deacclimatization, as well as in the assessment of the nutritional value of grain for feed.
