The variety is intended primarily for use in the malting industry for brewing and whisky distillation. During its period of active popularity, the variety was included in lists of recommended crops for distillation and was considered an important standard in the malting industry.
In comparative trials, the variety demonstrated competitive yields of approximately 5.5 t/ha. At present, Belgravia belongs to a previous generation of varieties that are gradually being replaced by newer hybrids with improved yield performance and resistance to powdery mildew, rust, and scald.
