The winter barley variety Cornelia is used in breeding work as a parental form for the development of new varieties, such as Highlight. In specialized scientific publications, it is considered primarily as a breeding sample.

During research, the variety underwent trials for susceptibility to fungal infections, including loose smut (Ustilago nuda) and covered smut (Ustilago hordei). Detailed characteristics of morphological traits, including plant height and maturity group, are not provided in open sources.
