The variety is the result of a cross between Abed Denso and Weihenstephaner MR 2. The plant is characterized by a short stem, a horizontal ear position, and husked grain with a white aleurone layer. The awns are coarse and long, and the thousand kernel weight is rated as below average.
The variety possesses lodging resistance due to the presence of the sdw1.c gene. Under field and laboratory conditions, it exhibits susceptibility to leaf blotch Rhynchosporium secalis. In the past, it was used in experiments on silage cultivation and in studies of grain biochemistry, specifically amylase isozyme patterns.
