Duchesse is a winter two-row barley variety intended for malting use. The variety is characterized as very early in terms of heading and possesses a very high yield.
A key feature of the variety is high grain plumpness and the presence of tolerance to barley yellow dwarf virus (JNO/BYDV). At present, this is the first two-row malting variety with such a resistance characteristic.
