The spring barley variety Granal is intended for the malting industry and is valued for the high quality indicators required for processing. The variety played a prominent role in Polish seed production in the early 2000s.

As part of agricultural research, assessments of this variety's resistance to various pathogens were conducted. In particular, the variety was the subject of studies regarding mycotoxin concentration, including deoxynivalenol.
