A spring barley variety originally intended for malting. Due to declining demand from malt houses, the status of the variety in some national lists has been changed to non-malting (feed).
The variety's grain is distinguished by an increased β-glucan content, as well as specific indicators of proteolytic modification and degree of fermentability. The variety is mentioned in European professional variety trial reports as a subject of research on yield and disease resistance.
