Karakan barley is a two-row winter variety. Its commercial purpose is defined as feed, however, there are mentions of the possibility of using the grain as a raw material for alcohol production and for conducting research in the field of distillation.
The variety belongs to the category of traditional winter varieties of Polish breeding. In field trials, the variety demonstrated yield indicators that, under a number of conditions, were below the established control level.
