The spring barley variety Laureate was obtained as a result of the cross Sanette x Overture. The plant is mid-season, with a vegetation period from 79 to 94 days and a stem height of 69–72 cm. The variety possesses high resistance to lodging due to a strong straw.
It has good resistance to powdery mildew, rhynchosporium, net blotch and spot blotch, as well as barley rust. It is adapted to intensive cultivation technologies.
The grain is characterized by a high thousand kernel weight (45–52 g), good uniformity, density, and low protein content. The primary purpose is brewing and distilling.
