The variety is a plant with a short straw of moderate strength. The barley possesses high resistance to powdery mildew, while exhibiting susceptibility to rhynchosporium and brown rust.

The variety had temporary IBD approval for brewing and distilling purposes. In the early 2010s, the variety was included in the lists recommended for cultivation in the North East region of Great Britain.
