The barley variety NOS Unity was bred as a result of breeding work crossing lines NOS 111.390-08 and Laureate. In the documentation, the variety appears under the breeding number NOS 115.234-01.

In publications, the variety is mentioned in the context of both spring and winter barley. At the present time, specific quantitative indicators for plant height, disease resistance, and grain quality parameters are not highlighted in open descriptive cards and are contained in summary trial reports.
