The variety is a spring two-row barley, derived from a cross between the Pallas variety and the Indian landrace Rupee. In agronomic science, it is primarily known as a carrier of the specific resistance gene to powdery mildew Blumeria graminis f. sp. hordei, designated as Mla(Rul) or Mla13.
The plant was studied in the context of photoperiodic sensitivity and development characteristics under short-day conditions. At present, the variety has lost its status as a commercial product and is stored in gene banks as a source of valuable material for breeding research.
