The variety is a local landrace originating from the Montafon region. The plant belongs to the early-ripening group and is characterized by good tillering capacity. Due to its adaptability, the variety is capable of growing in extreme climatic conditions, demonstrating resistance to adverse weather events, in particular to snowfall.
Currently, the variety is preserved in the Tyrolean gene bank as part of the cultural heritage. It is traditionally used in agriculture in mountainous regions and is used for the production of bakery products.
