The spring two-row barley variety Signora was obtained by crossing the Prestige and Tavern varieties. The plant reaches a height of about 77 cm and has medium resistance to lodging. The thousand kernel weight is approximately 51.2 g, with the variety showing a good yield of the grain fraction above 2.5 mm.
This variety is a malting type. The grain shows an extract content of 83.0%, as well as optimal indicators of proteolytic, amylolytic, and cytolytic modification; shedding is about 88%. The variety is resistant to powdery mildew but shows susceptibility to leaf spot pathogens, in particular Ramularia collo-cygni.
