Variety description

10 August 2026

The variety Stairway is a spring form of barley obtained as a result of the Nordic Seed breeding program. Its origin is based on the cross of genetic lines Quench x (Perdita x Titan).

The variety is intended for agricultural use in Northern European and Baltic countries, where it is included in official variety lists. Under controlled trial conditions, its susceptibility to net blotch and leaf scald was noted.

In production practice, Stairway barley is used in organic cultivar mixtures together with other varieties to increase the genetic diversity of crops and control the spread of diseases.
