The variety belongs to two-row barley of the subspecies Hordeum vulgare subsp. distichon var. nutans. In scientific studies from the 1989–1994 period, the variety was characterized by above-average resistance to powdery mildew, which is due to the presence of resistance genes Mla13 and Mlat.

The variety is often considered in agronomic publications as a historical specimen or genetic resource. In particular, it served as an object of study in the assessment of technological malt parameters, including beta-glucan content.
