The barley variety SW Makof is a spring two-row variety intended for use in the brewing industry. The plant has an intermediate tillering type; there is no pubescence on the sheaths of the lower leaves.
The ear of this variety is characterized by a parallel shape, medium length, and medium density, with awns exceeding the size of the ear in length. The variety appears in European catalogs and field trials in Sweden and Finland.
In specialized publications, the variety was studied from the point of view of the biochemical composition of the grain, including protein and beta-glucan content, as well as their influence on malting and milling processes.
