The spring barley variety Widawa features in scientific research related to the assessment of pathogen impact on grain crop productivity indicators. During small-plot trials, a yield level of 0.77 kg/m² was recorded.
The plant is a subject of genetic studies and resistance testing against a range of fungal diseases, including net blotch (Drechslera teres), as well as infection by the pathogens Bipolaris sorokiniana and Fusarium culmorum.
