The shrub with an upright, rounded crown shape reaches 150–180 cm in height and width at maturity. The leaves are large, ovate, with serrated margins, dark green in color, and have a glossy surface.

Mophead-type inflorescences are characterized by their very large size and appear on both old and new shoots, ensuring blooming from summer to autumn. Flower color varies from blue in acidic soil to pink in alkaline.

The plant is winter hardy in USDA zone 6, requires covering in zone 5. Used in landscape design for solitary and group plantings, creating hedges, and growing in containers.
