The variety is historical and is mentioned in garden catalogs of the early XX century as a tall ornamental plant suitable for cultivation in open field and in pot culture.

The flowers are characterized by intense coloration: described as carmine-pink, rich purple-carmine or carmine-red. The presence of a lighter salmon center or halo in the center of the flower is often noted.
