The variety «Gloria» is part of a series of seven hydrangeas created by German breeder Heinrich Schadendorf in 1928. In historical publications of the mid-XX century, the variety is described as having red flower coloration and an average flowering period.

To date, the variety is rare in European gardens, and detailed modern agrotechnical data on its characteristics are absent. The plant is of interest primarily to hydrangea collectors.
