Plants sold under this name reach a height of 100 to 150 cm. The inflorescences have a hemispherical shape and a diameter of 15–20 cm. The color of the inflorescences varies from deep blue or blue-violet on acidic soils to purple-burgundy on alkaline soils.

The plant is intended for single and group plantings. Cultivation requires partial shade, protection from direct sunlight, and permeable soil. There is no official registration data for the «Indigo» variety as a breeding achievement, and different genetic lines may be sold under this name.
