The variety is a compact shrub 1.0–1.2 meters tall with a rounded crown shape. A distinctive feature of the plant is the absence of typical decorative sterile florets at the edges of the inflorescences. All florets are fertile; they increase in size and their petals curl outward, creating an effect resembling the texture of konpeito candy or glass.

The flower color varies from pale pink to sky blue depending on the soil pH level. The variety is intended for garden and container landscaping. The plant requires fertile, moisture-retentive, and well-drained acidic soil; its winter hardiness zone corresponds to category 6.

There are discrepancies in the botanical classification of this variety: in some sources, it is assigned to the species Hydrangea macrophylla, while in others, to Hydrangea serrata.
